TGIF is a women’s speaker series that features quarterly meetings with thought leaders and industry experts, designed to educate, empower, and ignite creativity and possibilities for women in our community.

Each event showcases accomplished and talented women who will share their professional and deeply personal stories, along with their knowledge, expertise, and wisdom.

Our theme for Friday, September 13th is “BREAKING BARRIERS AND BUILDING DREAMS, in Basketball, Business and Building Inclusive Communities”. This unique program features three powerhouse women who have each shattered the glass ceiling in their respective fields paving the way for so many women, children and dreamers.

Danielle Cantor Jeweler is a National Basketball Players Association Certified Agent, representing current and retired NBA talent and has been recognized as the only female registered agent with active NBA clients. Danielle will TEACH us about using the power of sport to unite, educate and inspire young people to lift one another up to “all rise together”. Lisa Friedlander is a deeply committed philanthropist who has raised millions for Children’s National Medical Center through the Heartsongs Luncheon Fund and Teens with Heartsongs. She is also an attorney and successful Founder committed to sharing her expertise to GIVE opportunities to other entrepreneurs helping to raise millions as an Angel Investor. And Jillian Copeland is a Dream Builder with the power, determination, courage and grit to make things happen. She will no doubt INSPIRE us with her perseverance and commitment to creating inclusive communities for individuals with special needs. Driven by her own son’s struggles, Jillian has been widely recognized for her groundbreaking work as a tireless champion for people with disabilities.

DANIELLE CANTOR JEWELER – Teach Speaker

NBA Sports Agent, Professor , Advisor/Mentor

Danielle Cantor Jeweler, Partner and Executive Vice President of F.A.M.E. Sports Agency, is an NBPA Certified Agent, representing current and retired NBA talent. Danielle negotiates multi-million-dollar basketball contracts for NBA players, and has also negotiated a myriad of national and international athlete-endorsement deals.

Danielle has been honored by the Sports Business Journal as a GameChanger in the sports industry; recognized as the only female registered agent with active NBA clients. In July 2019, she negotiated the largest guaranteed professional sports contract by a female agent. Danielle is also a Public Speaker, giving keynote speeches about: The NBA’s Salary Cap, Collective Bargaining, Negotiations, Women in Sports, and various other topics around the Business of Professional Sports.

In addition to representing NBA athletes, Danielle teaches a class in Negotiations at the George Washington University’s Law School. She serves on the Advisory Board for PeacePlayers International, an organization using the power of sport to unite, educate and inspire young people to create peace for those living in politicly and socially conflicted communities. Danielle also serves on the Advisory Board for the National Women’s Soccer League’s Players Association. As a passionate creator of communities and spaces for women in sports, Danielle founded a mentorship network for women in sports, which brings together cohorts of rising stars and future leaders to learn, share, collaborate, and lift each other as we all rise, together!

A native Washingtonian, Jeweler graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in the Annenberg School for Communications and from The Wharton School for Business. Danielle is a competitive youth girls soccer coach and played Division 1 collegiate soccer, herself, at UPenn.

Professionally, she is known as Danielle Cantor, but by marriage—Jeweler. She lives in Potomac, Maryland with her husband, Aaron, and their two daughters Jordyn and Ella.

LISA FRIEDLANDER – Give Speaker

Founder/Entrepreneur , Corporate Attorney , Angel Investor

Lisa Friedlander is an attorney, entrepreneur, investor, and a strategic advisor/mentor to numerous startups. After practicing corporate and telecommunications law for 15+ years in both large and small firms, as well as serving in a VP General Counsel role for a satellite telecom company, she co-founded Activity Rocket in 2013. Activity Rocket was an aggregated marketplace for kids’ activities and summer camps. Lisa led the company as CEO. Activity Rocket was acquired in 2017 by Thrively, a west coast education technology company. Lisa then joined Shulman Rogers to launch and grow the NEXT law platform for startups and emerging growth companies. She is currently the Chief Revenue Officer for NEXT and has spearheaded numerous initiatives to support clients and the DMV tech ecosystem. Recently, Lisa co-founded another company called My NEXT Raise, an investor readiness platform for early stage companies seeking to raise capital, which will launch in Fall 2024. Lisa is a mentor and speaker for a variety of entrepreneurship and investment groups and sits on the advisory board for several startups.

Lisa is a founding member and on the Board of Directors for Citrine Angels, a women investing in women angel group that provides capital to female founders across the country and helps to cultivate and educate more women to participate in this asset class. Lisa is also on the Board of 2gether International, an organization focused on supporting entrepreneurs with disabilities, and Main Street, a movement of inclusion where people of all abilities live and thrive together in Rockville, MD. Lisa also founded 2 organizations that raise money for Children’s National Medical Center – The Heartsongs Luncheon Fund (2001) and Teens with Heartsongs (2020) – together these organizations have raised well over $2 million for Children’s Hospital and provided leadership opportunities for over 500 local area high school students.

Lisa lives in Bethesda, MD with her husband Scott and 3 kids Jaclyn, Cole, and Camryn.

Jillian Copeland – Inspire Speaker

Founder, Executive Director, Inclusion Advocate , Community Builder

Jillian Copeland is the Founder and Executive Director of Main Street in Rockville, Maryland, a first-of-its-kind inclusive, accessible and affordable apartment building and community center serving people of all abilities. She developed the idea for Main Street with her husband, Scott, when they were searching for long-term housing choices for their son Nicol, who has developmental disabilities. After visiting places around the country, they discovered that there was a dire need for high-quality, inclusive living options with opportunities for community engagement. Main Street, which opened its doors in the summer of 2020, has since become a national model.

Prior to starting Main Street, Jillian spent 10 years as an educator, staff trainer and technology coordinator for Montgomery County Public Schools before founding The Diener School for children with learning differences in 2007. Since Diener’s inception, the school has worked with more than 300 families. Jillian served as the Head of School from 2007 to 2013 and Chair of the Board of Trustees for the following six years. She now serves on the Board of Trustees and is the Honorary Chair of the 2023-2024 Capital Campaign.

Jillian’s passion is to help people rise. She motivates people of all stages, ages and backgrounds to find their purpose and passion. A tireless advocate for people with disabilities, she has proudly served on the University of Maryland’s Transition Hub, the Disability Inclusion Committee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, the Developmental Disabilities Administration Supported Living Advisory Committee and Jubilee’s Housing Task Force. She is co-chair of the Maryland Inclusive Housing Montgomery County Chapter. She was recently appointed to the Montgomery County IDD Commission.

Jillian has received several honors and awards from local organizations, including the Community Leadership Award from Jewish Women International (JWI) in 2009 and the Abe Pollin Humanitarian Award from the Bender JCC in 2016. Jillian and Scott were honored with the Melvin Cohen Humanitarian Award from the Jewish Foundation for Group Homes (now Makom) in 2018, and Adapt’s Humanitarian Leadership Award in 2020. Jillian was inducted into the Montgomery County Business Hall of Fame in 2023. She is also a proud graduate of Leadership Montgomery’s Class of 2013.

Jillian and Scott reside in Rockville and are the parents of Danny (29), Jack (27), Nicol (25) and Ethan (23). They are excited about their latest initiative, The Epilepsies Action Network (EAN), created to support surveillance, research and funding for those with epilepsy.
